Snow Plow Sam Classes

Snow Plow Sam is our program for our pre-school skaters.  This is for skaters age 3-5 years old.  This classes offers curriculum from Learn To Skate USA.  This class focuses on basic skating skills and getting your child more comfortable on the ice. Skills covered in the class include;

Snow Plow Sam 1

  1. Sit and stand up with skates on - Off the ice
  2. Sit and stand up – on ice
  3. March in place
  4. March forward 8-10 steps
  5. March, then glide on two feet
  6. Dip in place

Snow Plow Sam 2

  1. March Followed by a long glide
  2. Dip while moving
  3. Backward wiggles – six in a row
  4. Rocking Horse
  5. Forward two foot swizzles – 2-3 in a row
  6. Two-foot hop in place

Snow Plow Sam 3

  1. Forward Skating
  2. Forward 1 foot glide
  3. Forward swizzles
  4. Backward swizzles
  5. Forward Snow Plow Stop
  6. Curves

Learn To Skate - Grades K-12

Learn to Skate is for all skaters from K-12.  Some of the skills taught in these classes include: backwards and forwards swizzles and wiggles, scooter pushes, one-foot glides, two-foot glides, forward stroking, swizzles pumps on a circles, transitions, forward and backwards snowplow stops, outside and inside edges on a circle, forward and backwards crossovers, three-turn, two-foot spin, hockey stop, backwards stoking and bunny hops.

How to Choose the Right Skate

WEAR PROPER FITTING SKATES

Skates should be snug but shouldn’t pinch your toes. Find a pair of skates with adequate support and comfortable fitting, and practice walking around in them before taking the ice. When fitting, your feet, especially the heel, should not move around inside the boot when laced up. A close fit gives you more control and support on the ice. Be aware that skate sizes are not always the same as your shoe size. Avoid bulky, thick socks and wear lightweight, thin socks inside your skates. Thick socks create uncomfortable bumps and make

Learn To Skate Lease Program

We offer a skate leasing program for all Learn To Skate skaters.  Your skater will receive a quality boot that is appropriate for their age and skill level.  If you skaters foot grows or skates do not fit right you can exchange at anytime with no additional cost to the parent.  We will have a registration night prior to lessons where you can pick up and be fitted for skates.

2023-2024 Lease Agreement Cost

  • Skate lease $60 for the entire season October-March – You can exchange at anytime for anew size or different fit.
  • $50 Deposit - each lease family will need to provide a $50 check as a deposit.  This WILL NOT be cashed as long as you return your skates at the end of the season.  You will get your deposit check returned at the time you turn in your skates.
